Apacs Edgesaber Z-Spark

I have just received the test racket from Apacs Sports UK, the all new z-spark. I have just strung it to 30lbs with apacs spider string and i am about to begin testing it this week. From getting hold of it for the first time i can tell you it is slightly head heavy, just a little less than the lethal 70 in fact. I have high hopes for this racket, i expect it to be at least on a par with the lethal 70, if not better. It will have to go some to do this, so we will see. I will post my review in the next few days when i have given it a good thrashing. Stay tuned for more....

There are 2 versions of this racket - one which is black at the t-join, another yellow (see http://sport-malaysia.blogspot.com/2009/11/apac-badminton_6123.html). Which one are you reviewing?

Thanks.

The one i am testing is yello at the t- joint. It is a UK spec version for Apacs UK.

Hi,

You have done a great job with your reviews and informative posts.

When you mention a string tension of 28 lbs, do you mean both mains and cross strung at that same tension or something like 27*29?

Looking forward to the Z-Spark review.

Regards, Raghu

Hi Raghu

27 and 29 is the tension. The z spark review will be up in the next few days.

Hello Antony,

Thank you for all your reviews.
You've mentioned lethal 70 is among the best racket you have used, why? and which racket is lethal 70 a clone to Yonex?
Thank you,
Harry

Hi Harry,

The Lethal line from Apacs is their own line (along with the Tantrum line)...so it is not a clone of any Yonex racket.

Hi Harry

There is a previous post on the lethal 70 somewhere on the blog. Diwana, thanks for reply to Harry, i couldn't have said it any better!

Hi Antony,

My 11 year old son plays for his school in inter schools competitions. He is using a stock Carlton Powerblade Graphite that I bought for him in 2008, I also own and use one of these. I am thinking of buying him a Apacs Nano Power 7007, which is a medium stiffness frame, but I'm wondering what string tension would be advisable for his age when using Apacs Spider 66Ti strings?
Thanx,
Poshgerm.

Diwana and Anthony,

Thanks for the reply.

Anthony, I'm base in the US and is intrigue by your comment/ review for lethal 70... I want to try one but it seems like no one have inventory of this racket "anywhere". do you know where I can get one?

Harry

@Poshgerm

I would go with a low tension at his age, about 20lbs. He is still growing so high tension may cause injury.

@Harry

Apacs sports UK do ship worldwide. Use the link on the right side of the page to take you to their web site.

still out of stock!

Got another question for you, I tried my friends AMP 95 today and it feels pretty good.... a little short on power but it may because it is strung 26 pounds. what is your comment/ comparison between the AMP 95 to AMP 101 and how do they compare to lethal 70?

thanks,
harr

Hi,

Just found this blog a few moments ago and I have to say, I'm amazed at how diverse the world of badminton gear/racquets are. Never even heard of 80% of the brands that you mentioned, but I guess that just goes to show you how good of a brainwashing job Yonex has done to us, especially here in North America.
I do have a question for you though: Have you ever tried (or heard of) Black Knight racquets? Here in Canada, it's probably the second most popular brand of racquets after Yonex.

Hi Bobo

Here in the Uk they are virtually unknown. I have heard of them for their squash rackets, which they seem to have a good reputation for.

@Harry

Apacs UK must have done well with the lethal 70 then if they are out of stock. I will send them an e-mail to see when they will be getting more in. I know they oftenread this blog so one of their guys may leave a comment about it. As far as the AMP goes, i have never tested either of them. I only get to try out what Apacs UK get from Malaysia, which is where Apacs rackets come from.

Sorry missed your questions with regard to the AMP95, AMP101 and the Lethal 70. Antony has not tested any of the AMP rackets YET!!!

This is news to Antony also, but we will be sending him an AMP101, Tantrum 300 and Visible 2020 to test in the next few weeks. We will also send an AMP95 so he can give a full test of the range for you guys.

Sorry for the extra work Antony!!

Did you ever get an AMP-101 to test? APACS rackets seem to be in short supply in the UK at the mo, but I'm very tempted to pick one of these up...
